Destinations have a lot to teach us. Every destination comes with a new message for us. But we can only receive the messages, when we take a moment to sit and realise how beautiful the destination is. Kumarakom Travel, the charm of Kerala, is one such hotspot. It is not just the first sight of any destination which decides how beautiful the place is, but it is the soul of the destination, its aura, culture and every intangible aspect which are hard to spot through a naked eye.

It not only leaves you mesmerised at the first sight of it but also entices you by its pure white soul, its inviting aura and the serenity. It is like entering into a complete new world where nothing can go wrong and every life is just beautiful!

Snuggled along the coasts of Vembanad Lake, Kumarakom is a cluster of little islands, situated about 16o km away from the bustling city life of Trivandrum, the capital city. The destination serves as an idyllic spot for picnicking and bird watching.

Kumarakom Tourism is mostly about sailing through the backwaters on Kettuvallam. However, fishing, visiting bird sanctuary, museum, islands and waterfall are some added feature to the trip.

The destination is named after Kumaran, the deity worshipped in the temple of this region. The region saw the Ruler of Vaddankore Kingdom initially and later was overthrown by the rulers of Travancore in 1750.

Backwater Retreat, Paddyfield Resort and Kumarakom Lake Resort are some of the popular hotels in Kumarakom. Most of the hotels here have a sea view and are available at affordable prices.

Following are the main travel attractions of Kumarakom

Kingfishers in vibrant colours can also be spotted here. Many locally seen birds like cuckoo, heron and lone-golden-backed woodpeckers.

Bay Island Driftwood Museum

Set near the Kumarakom Jetty, this museum is devoted to the art of the sea. Raji Punnose, a retired teacher has beautifully carved the driftwood pieces into different shapes of wildlife. It is open on all days except Mondays.

Pathiramanal Island

This is an enticing island in the Vembanad Lake giving shelter to a large number of migratory birds. A boat ride to the island is equally enjoyable as reaching there and seeing a beautiful aquarium and a zoo.
